3 Ways I Manage Womanhood, Motherhood and a Career

One of the most frequent questions that I receive is how do you balance everything? In my case “everything” includes being a mom of 4, being a wife and being the co-founder of a thriving business.  And my answer to that question is: “Sometimes balance doesn’t exist.  And that’s OK.”

Sometimes balance doesn’t exist.  And that’s OK

You see, my most challenging times were when I was trying to achieve that perfect balance in all areas of my life. You know, rock it out at work, go home and cook a well-balanced meal, keep the house clean, take care of the kids, interact with my man…oh yes.. and write in my journal, and don’t forget to get in some exercise.  That sounds like the perfect day…right?  But for me, doing all that in one day would stress me completely out.

But once I figured out that everything did not have to be perfect, I went from barely surviving my day-to-day routine to thriving as a wife, a mother, and an entrepreneur.

And here are 3 ways that I do it.

Establish Routines

Routines may sound boring…but they keep my life from being chaotic. When everyone knows what to expect and what to do daily, it makes life so much easier. So for the most part, the kids and my husband and myself know what is expected of us each day.

Find your little pieces of Heaven:

I hear a lot of women say they haven’t been on vacation in a while or that they can’t afford a spa treatment of other luxuries.  And while those things are nice, you must look for your little pieces of heaven throughout your everyday life because that’s really what’s going to make your day-to-day more enjoyable.

So for me, my little piece of heaven involves having a few moments in the bed (before the kids get up) to talk to my husband or to just cuddle. Eating a snack that I don’t have to share with anyone else in the house…it’s all mine. Or hugging and kissing my kids after they have showered and gotten ready for bed. First, that’s the freshest they are going to smell all day. And secondly, I just love those nighttime kisses that say no matter how good or bad our day was, I still love you. Or, as weird as it may sound, sniffing each piece of clothing as I transfer it from the washer to the dryer is like pure heaven to me.

Yes, I know that sniffing each piece of clothing probably prolongs my laundry time, but I just love the smell of freshly washed clothes.  And now that I’ve discovered Tide PODS® with Downy ( I literally can’t get enough of it.)

Keep Growing and Changing

Have you ever heard the phrase “When you know better you do better”?  Well I’ve adopted that as my mantra. And as I keep learning and evolving as a person, I become a better wife, mother, employer and overall human being.  So if there’s one thing that I could leave with you, it’s be open to change, be willing to comprise, and be open to learning new things and experiences.

When I finally decided to try Tide PODS®, I was so pleased with how easy it was to just drop that little pod into the laundry and get really clean… really fresh smelling (lol) clothes on the other side.  I’d seenTide PODS® in the store, but I was unsure if those little pods would really get my clothes clean and quite frankly, I was already happy with the current detergent. But, I was always using too much to ensure our clothes got that yummy, freshly cleaned smell. Since I was flying through the bottles of liquid detergent, I decided to change it up and try the pre-measured pacs with Tide Pods.  In this case, I’m so happy that I opened up and tried something new.

Tide PODS® is a 3-in-1 laundry solution that consists of a detergent, stain remover and brightener all at once.
