A-List Rides: Christmastime Cruising In 2018 Mazda CX-9
Is it a car? Is it an SUV? Folks want to know what the 2018 Mazda CX-9 is when you’re driving it! Truth is it’s both. This is Mazda’s mid-sized crossover vehicle (it feels more like a full-size vehicle to me), but whatever the case, it sure is a beauty.
I spent Christmas week in the Mazda CX-9 and got to experience this vehicle during the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping, family gatherings, regular errands and increased traffic. It was really an ideal way to see if I loved or hated this automobile.
Beautifully designed—both exterior and interior, the Mazda CX-9 was eye-candy for bystanders and people in parking lots. Surprisingly, people stopped to ask me questions about it and inquired what I thought of it.
I drove the Mazda CX-9 to the Dutch Farmers Market to get groceries for Christmas dinner. Though the CX-9 has three rows available, I dropped the third row to make more cargo space and the plush-carpet covered trunk area secured my bags without little movement as I drove around. Without the bags, the CX-9 would comfortable seat seven people with all three rows up.
This car had a smooth, solid drive. It was sturdy, gripped the road and had great acceleration. I loved the handling of this vehicle and it was so efficient in its drive that the backseat passengers didn’t get motion sickness while riding back there.
The CX-9 was really good on gas too. I primarily did city driving during my excursion, but overall mileage is 20 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the highway.
This car has the great safety functions Mazda is known for. The entertainment and navigation are user friendly and controlled by a knob in the center panel just below the drive gear.
Spin Control: The version of the Mazda CX-9 was listed at $31,520 and I’d say you’re getting every piece of your money’s worth.
