365 Ways McDonald’s Celebrate’s Black Women

The 14th annual McDonald’s 365Black Awards took a fresh approach, hosting an elegant luncheon-style event to honor this year’s group of celebrities and influential women who make positive contributions to the community.

The awards luncheon was themed “Power of Inspiration” and celebrated the following honorees:  Olympic gold-medalist and author Sanya Richards-Ross, actress and comedian Tichina Arnold, business executive, author Valeisha Butterfield-Jones, longstanding McDonald’s female owner and operator Marty Gillis and youth honoree  author Chasity Hale. The event was hosted by actress Essence Atkins, at the 23rd annual ESSENCE Festival® presented by Coca-Cola® in New Orleans.

Of course, Café Mocha Radio was there and we caught up first-hand with many of these wonder women, including Tichina who talked about her new series Daytime Divas.  You know that’s going to be lot’s of drama.

Plus, we spoke with Essence Atkins and Breesha Web the stars of Marlon Wayans’ new sitcom ‘Marlon’.  We are laughing already.

Angie Blissett, McDonald’s U.S. marketing director noted, “McDonald’s is committed to being deeply rooted in the communities we serve. The 365Black Awards is where we want to continue to recognize outstanding individuals and highlight their positive contributions to the community.”

We couldn’t agree more.  It feels good to see so many black women being recognized for their amazing work. You can learn more about the Awards, at www.365Black.com.
