Nissan Goes Hollywood: Brand Hosts Opening Night Of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”
“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” landed $220 million during its opening weekend at the North American box office. That’s big business for movies and its no wonder that Nissan has partnered with Lucasfilm on this famed franchise.
For latest “Star Wars” installment, movie fans could customize Nissan their Rogue, Rogue Sport, TITAN or Altima with “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” colors, decals, lights and more! This is an evolution from 2016 with Nissan’s partnership with “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” With that film, fans could only order one of the limited editions of Nissan’s Rogue One.
In addition to customized vehicles, a “Star Wars” virtual reality experience at dealerships and other super-fan contents and activations, Nissan also sponsored the opening night celebration of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Cali. The event, done in partnership with Nerdist’s “Star Wars” Marathon experience, was a red carpet affair that showcased many of Nissan’s customized show vehicles presented at the Los Angeles International Auto Show and at the world premiere of the film.
Fans dressed in costumes and marveled in the over-the-top vehicles and “Star Wars” AT-M6 Gorilla Walker that lined Hollywood Blvd. outside the famed theater. Inside the lobby, Storm Troopers were on hand to take photos with guests, there was a full-size replica of BB-8, and there was a costume exhibit that included outfits worn by Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, Daisy Ridley as Rey and Adam Driver as Kylo Ren.
The El Capitan Theatre’s organist played a medley of songs as guests assembled in their seats. And then guests were surprised when “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson and the film’s producer Ram Bergman came on stage for a quick question and answer session with Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick before introducing a video greeting from Hamill.
Then, a dynamic laser light production with “Star Wars” figures and an appearance from the character Rey took place on stage before the movie began.
After 2 hours and 41 minutes of an action packed “Star Wars” adventure, guests were given huge gift bags full of “The Last Jedi” memorabilia and posters.
Thanks Nissan for a creatively captivating experience! (Check out additional red carpet and party pictures below!)
