Revlon Collaborates With Adwoah Aboah To Bring Awareness To Women’s Social Issues

The beauty and fashion industry are starting to have a louder conversation about the importance of self-love and acceptance. Recently, brands like Dove and CVS have decided to take a stand against photoshopping their beauty images. The idea that each blemish or flaw has to be retouched, has created a generation of people who are obsessed with face tuning, filtering and altering their photos, instead of embracing who they truly are.

Revlon recognized the need for important conversations around women’s issues like body image and the affects it can have on your overall mental health. Alongside model and activist Adwoah Aboah, the brand has launched the Revlon X Gurls Talk Collection. Gurls Talk is a platform created by Aboah that provides a safe space for women to comfortably express themselves without feeling judged. As an ambassador for Revlon, the two joined forces by creating a collection that is bold and fun.

Via an Instagram post to the Revlon page, Aboah shares her full involvement with the collection. “I’ve been part of it from start to finish, from the texture to the colours…the thing I knew about doing this, is that it couldn’t just be “Adwoa the model”. It’s not about that…It had to have a deeper meaning and be honest and true.” She is definitely using her platform to have a needed conversation with our generation.

The limited edition collection comes in three kits ($14.99, Amazon.com) that include lipstick, lip gloss, nail polish, and eyeshadow. Collaborations like this are worth supporting.
