Fear of the unknown. When you tune into politics and the media, that’s the path they are taking. Coronavirus (COVID-19). No one saw it coming until it arrived – and turned social interaction and financial markets on their heads.

No one knows how long this medical crisis will last. Nor what the sum total effect on the economy will be. But, this is what we do know about past crisis situations:

HIV/AIDS (globally over 25 million deaths since 1981)
Mad Cow Disease (U.K – 200 deaths in the late 1980s)
SARS-Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (China – 816 deaths in 2002)
Ebola (West Africa -11,308 deaths from 2014-2016)
2001 – 9/11 Attacks threw the US economy into a recession which lasted through 2003 (25 months)
2008 – Financial Crisis threw the US economy into recession until July 2009 (16 months)
Crisis comes…crisis go – but GOD remains the same.

Yes… be vigilant. Use wisdom. Contact your financial advisor if market declines make you uncomfortable. Adhere to the CDC tips – and all that! https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/index.html Keep your immune system strong. Keep a mask in your purse/briefcase – and don’t be embarrassed to use it if need be. But no need to worry NOW! When the media/social/political hype starts stressing you out, think of how many years that stress will take off of your life. “Can anyone of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Matthew 6:27 NIV

Dig in. HIS Word isfull of promises. Find one to stand on.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” Isaiah 43:2 ESV
