Tanya Van Court, former Nickelodeon and Discovery executive, now Founder and CEO of Goalsetter, a smart money app that helps every member of the family achieve savings goals.
Goalsetter has just announced their latest initiative that will help to provide economic mobility to the Black community. The goal-based savings and financial literacy app, has teamed up with esteemed investor and Chairman of Vista Equity Robert F. Smith, Black TikTok Influencers, and Sean Ali-Waddell, Jr., activist and nephew of Muhammad Ali in a Juneteenth movement to get 1 Million Black kids signed up for Goalsetter savings accounts. The campaign is called“SavingOurSelves.
Black Americans are still feeling the economic burden of slavery. White Americans have 10X the net worth of Black Americans, and are projected to have a negative net worth by 2053. To help reverse the curse of the wealth gap, Goalsetter is launching this movement on Juneteenth to get 1 million Black kids signed up for savings accounts. Kids who have savings accounts in their name are 6X more likely to go to college and 4X more likely to own stocks as young adults!
To promote this movement, Goasetter is partnering with Black TikTok Influencers for a “Black-Out” on Juneteenth (June 19th). Goalsetter has committed to sponsoring these creators on that day, and in turn, these Black TikTokers will spread the word about the #SavingOurSelves campaign.
Black creators have chosen Juneteenth, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the US, to carry out this “Blackout” to collectively protest racism and police brutality. Goalsetter’s #SavingOurSelves movement will amplify these voices and underscore the importance of social and economic inclusivity.
Tanya would love to share with the audience of Cafe Mocha Radio how the #SavingOurSelvescampaign can help to provide economic mobility to the Black community and change the trajectory of future generations.
