As the temperatures cool down around the country, one tropical destination continues to heat things up with its stunning beaches, historical landmarks and world-class resorts. Cancun, Mexico, has seen a transformation recently with the expansion of its hotel offerings including the newly renovated Grand at Moon Palace. The hotel brand has mastered the art of the all-inclusive luxury experience, which is why thousands are flocking south of the border this season to soak up the sun, Palace style.
Kissing the Mexican coastline, the perfectly situated Grand at Moon Palace is just minutes away from Cancun’s International airport and a short drive to the areas famous Vegas style strip and the Mexican Riviera’s historical attractions including Tulum and Cozumel. If you’re a fan of luxurious and cozy accommodations, a variety of renowned restaurants and don’t mind living the Palace Life of extra pampering and attention, then this property is tailor made with you and your crew in mind.
After our recent visit, we see why the property is ranked #1 on Tripadvisor for family all-inclusives in Cancun. Here’s a snapshot of our stay from Café Mocha Travels team-member Franki Epps. We hope her experience helps you finalize your holiday travel plans and add this all-inclusive option to your bucket list.
Q: Franki- you just experienced the Grand at Moon Palace for the first time. Tell us about your first impression of the property?
A: “My first impression truly was of the amazing staff. Literally every member that we locked eyes with said hola, smiled and was extremely pleasant. We felt safe and welcomed from the moment we left the airport, where our transportation was waiting, to the entrance of the hotel where we were greeted with cool towels, flowers and a refreshing drink. We appreciated those special gestures throughout our entire stay, which my children and husband absolutely loved. Simple but awesome touches like the balloon man in the lobby who made our little ones hand crafted shaped balloons was awesome. The service during our stay was impeccable”.
Q: What did you enjoy most about the resort: the food, the activities, the pool, and the spa? Tell us what others can expect from The Grand at Moon Palace.
A: “From a family perspective, anyone with toddlers will tell you that mealtime is generally very daunting. The massive buffet (with its wide variety of kid friendly options), made this normally stressful task rather pleasant. The dessert bar was also abundant, hence why the kids kept gravitating towards it. We loved being able to break up the days, spending time at both the water park and the kids zones! We spent time getting our sun and fun on, then taking breaks to cool off inside the huge jungle gym. I was particularly impressed that when bringing children into the activity zone, you had to sign them in with wristband numbers and the Palace staff even asked about food allergies. That extra measure of security and safety put my mind at ease so I could really enjoy the vacation too. I think parents will appreciate that most. Between the arcade, the playroom, different pools and outside excursions including swimming with dolphins, we wore the kids out and they truly enjoyed every moment. With a resort of this size, I think it’s impossible for families to experience everything in just one trip but we sure did try”.
Q: How would you rate the resort? Any stand out moments you’ll remember the most?
A: “If I had to rate the property, I’d definitely give The Grand at Moon Palace five stars all the way and I can also see why Tripadvisor ranks it so high! Our room overlooking the pool was gorgeous, which was a great way to start each day. The food was top notch at the many restaurants and I can’t say enough about how friendly and attentive the Palace staff was taking care of our every need. One night at dinner, our daughter Drew was a little fussy and I couldn’t enjoy my meal trying to attend to her. One of the waiters noticed the commotion and came over and asked if he could pick her up. He walked her over to where my husband and son were for a few minutes just so I could finish eating. That was an incredibly thoughtful gesture. One that I won’t forget”.
Q: We know the Grand at Moon Palace is family friendly, would you also recommend for couples and even solo travelers?
A: “I would absolutely recommend the Grand at Moon Palace for couples too. Even though this was a family focused trip, my husband Derek and I were able to sneak some quiet moments away together when the kids were asleep on our balcony and enjoy that gorgeous Mexican sunset. It’s quite beautiful. The complimentary bubbly and Robert Mondavi wine in our room definitely helped us to wind down as well. We also arrived just in time for the openings of the new SpeakEasy called “The Library” and Indian restaurant “Agra”, which we managed to squeeze in on one of the nights during our stay. So good.
We saw a few couples tying the knot and its clear that weddings at the Grand at Moon Palace are a dream. Although we didn’t have time to enjoy the spa, I think that’s the perfect excuse for us to cone back to Cancun very soon to enjoy another round of the Palace Life. It’s truly become one of my favorite resorts”.
