SBA Triples Number of WBCs at HBCUs

In alignment with the Biden-Harris Administration’s focus on equity in access to resources for historically disadvantaged communities I am proud to share that last month my office, the Office of Women’s Business Ownership under the leadership of Administrator Isabella Guzman, announced the selection of five new Women’s Business Centers (WBC) operated by established Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). This announcement marks the tripling of the number of centers located on the campuses of Historically Black Colleges and Universities and continues the expansion of largest WBC network in the history of the SBA. With these new additions, the complete listing of WBCs housed on the campuses of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) now include: Morgan State University, Baltimore (MD) Benedict College, Columbia (SC Virginia Union University, Richmond (VA) Jackson State University, Jackson (MS) Alcorn State University, Lorman (MS) Winston-Salem State University, Winston Salem State (NC) Bennett College, Greensboro (NC) Miles College, Fairfield (AL) Bowie State University, Bowie (MD) Savannah State University, Savannah (GA) This announcement also builds on strategies outlined in the recently released SBA Equity Action Plan and the Biden-Harris Administration’s equity agenda.
